    Right on Suzanne!

I concur with your suggestion to radically increase the punitive measures to players that show such behaviour on the ice. I,m not a hockey enthusiast. However I’m deeply involved in sports (locally and nationally). I believe that many sport bodies would not tolerate this type of violence on the “playing field”. I also believe that the “punishment” should not only be “passive” such as a long duration suspension but also “active” such as community work at the local hospital’s paraplegic/quadraplegic unit. Thus driving the point that mindless violent actions can lead to a lifetime of sacrifice and relentless work for the victim’s family….or worse.
