Often, I get asked the question, “Are you or is someone in your family affected by type 1 diabetes?” The answer is NO. I do not have diabetes and no one in my family has type 1 diabetes, which requires insulin. Next question, “Then, why are you so involved with the Breakthrough T1D, (JDRF) organization, which researches a cure for type 1 diabetes?” To answer this question, let’s go way back to the early 1980s.
