The Smile Project

The Smile Project

I ventured out to test my “Smile Project”. I got into my running gear and went for a run. My first subject was a mail carrier. As I ran by her I said, “Good Job Emilie!” and gave her a big thumbs up. She gave me a big smile and hollered, “Thanks, Sue!”

I continued along my run. While on a canopied tree-lined street I noticed an older woman, bent over, and trying to walk using a walker. It looked as though she was using the walker to help her cope with a recent injury. I slowed down a bit. As I approached her I said, “You’re doing a great job! Keep it going!” She raised her head, looked at me with the BIGGEST SMILE ever! By the way, she won biggest smile of that day!

Zest for Life – More Lessons from the Canoe

I Run in the Direction of…

I Run in the Direction of…
Back in the day, I would run to clear my mind, listen to some great tunes on my Sony Walkman, and get fit.  I would run in beautiful surroundings for inspiration. I would run because I could. I was so carefree and the world was wonderful and I ran for pure joy.

Flash forward 33 years.  I’m still a runner, but with aching knees that click all the time. My loose running shorts are now ¾ length Epic Run Tight Fit Tights – to hold me together! I need a hat to control the incredible amounts of sweat pouring from this exercising menopausal suffering soaked me. It’s not as pretty, but it still has a PURPOSE!
