Coloured Cauliflower

Coloured Cauliflower
One of our yearly autumn outings is to find COLOURED CAULIFLOWER.
You might be wondering if we are looking for a specific vegetable. Nope! Are we looking for a flower? Nope! We are in search of a spectacular and particular display of fall foliage.
Many conditions need to be in place for this to happen. Firstly, the leaves need to be at the height of their foliage coloration. The sun must be shining brightly with hardly any fallen leaves on the ground. It might take a few road trips, but we are hoping to capture it.

Very slow, verrrrrrrry slowwwww

Very slow, verrrrrrrry slowwwww

Naturally, I’m already on a slower speed than the rest of the world. In truth, this annoys people who know me very well. I have a tendency to get lost in the moments. I putter, think, wait, watch, listen, contemplate, and daydream, a lot. You remember, the kid the teacher always told to stop daydreaming. As a student, I preferred to sit next to the classroom window. Frequently, I gazed outward, wondering, thinking, pondering, and then alerted to stop daydreaming. I wasn’t daydreaming, I was creating!  Pink Floyd The Wall, “Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!”

It’s Flowing

It’s Flowing
With the end of the cross-country ski season is the beginning of the Maple Syrup Season! Oh, the wonderful sap is flowing out of the maple trees. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE maple syrup? I love it in all forms such as: cookies, candies, lollipops, ice cream, pure syrup, glazes, cakes, pies, etc. My absolute favourite form is hot maple syrup poured on snow. It’s poured in a straight line on the snow. Then with a wooden popsicle stick, it’s rolled into a soft chunk of maple candy. It’s the best!!!! I usually get this on the last days of my cross-country ski season.
It’s so delish! Actually, anything with maple syrup on it is delish.  Anything???  Yes, anything!!!!

Love is Love

Love is Love

As I was walking down my drive way I noticed an unusual pattern in the snow. Although, the design was created by tire tracks, it astounded me. Two hearts were side by side facing me.
I felt this design was a message. Someone sent me a divine message of love. I am a true believer that love is love. It doesn’t matter who or what shares it, it’s genuine and beautiful. I love to be loved and I love to share love. Today, someone sent me LOVE!

X-Ski Etiquette

X-Ski Etiquette

I am a cross country skiing lover! Seriously, it’s my most favourite winter sport. I have been doing it since my early 20’s. The sport has everything I need, cardio exercise, arm, leg and abs workouts, fresh air, and gliding speed. It’s also very inexpensive and requires little advance planning. Sort of all the same reasons I like running too.
The only major problem with this activity is the length of season. Cross country skiing requires natural snow. Unlike downhill skiing, where artificial snow can be made to lengthen the ski season, natural snow is needed for cross country skiing.

A Microscopic Moment

A Microscopic Moment

There is so much to see in the garden at any time of year. Actually, there is so much to see in anything, if you really take the time to look. When I finally get down to spending a few hours in the garden, I take a break from life as a human. I try to think of myself as a creature from the land. I disconnect my phone and my attachment to any technology. I escape into the micro damp soil.

Exhauuustionnnnn

Exhauuustionnnnn

Perhaps I’m feeling as autumn does the changing of my leaves. The beautiful crimson colours the trees and bushes change into. The newly crisp flowy air with less humidity. The lifting of summer’s glee with preparation for winter’s roar! I look forward to autumn and I do love when it’s here. But as the flowers, I too have become exhausted and require some rest.

Little Hopes & Happies

Little Hopes & Happies

In the most unlikely place, at the base of my outdoor staircase along the paved driveway, was this beautiful flower. It was growing in a tiny spec of earth between wood and pavement. It found the will to grow and be.  Good Morning Sue!

A couple of days later on my morning walk, I quickly looked for the flower. The flower blossom was gone.  The little plant was still there, but the blossom had finished and another was on the rise.  My continued thought was I’m glad I captured the photo when I did.  In life, beauty does not last forever.

‘Tis The Season of Giving

‘Tis The Season of Giving

I am embarrassed to say that at this time I haven’t exercised in weeks!  Which answers the question, why do I feel like crap?  I am close to a month behind in my journal writing.  Oh, the thoughts I have wanted to put down on paper and didn’t have the time to.  When I get around to filling in those days, I am certain to have forgotten what I initially wanted to say.

The Random Occurrence of Wonderful

The Random Occurrence of Wonderful

The other morning I woke up to the sound of ticking on my bathroom window. Tick, tick, tick, tick … Stop … Again, tick, tick, tick, tick … Stop. Again and again, the same ticking sound and then it would stop.  This pattern repeated for about five minutes.  I rolled over in my bed and tried to go back to sleep. I assumed it was a squirrel running about.
