Some days I just can’t think
The words connect and compose
It is raining in my head
Rhythm is on my mind

The constant down pour
Just won’t let up
Fusion of meanings are deafening
Bypassing all my other functions

Like a tin can roof and rain
The words are numbing the pain
I try to focus on another task
But the words keep marching on…

On days like this it is best to
Surrender to the banter and sounds
Of the poetic words inside
Perhaps tomorrow they will ease

It can’t rain everyday
The sun must shine
I’ll write and write and write some more
Praying the next day I will be sober

Raining words and the rhythm it has
When the downpour comes
I see muse all around
I wait for silence a great gift to poets
